General Overview

The payroll officer is to adhere to compliance with the payroll process and deadlines as well as ensure that Goldrush staff are paid accurately and on time, on a monthly basis.

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for communicating with all divisions and departments to provide assistance to management and staff on all payroll related matter.



Overall duties include: 

  • Ensures time sheets are kept and that pay is calculated and paid out
  • accurately for all staff, management and Directors;
  • Prepare and capture data for VIP payroll and complete the VIP task sheet with monthly
        recons, print pay slips and files accurate and timely medical aid, provident fund, PAYE tax
        returns SDL and UIF;
  • Prepares monthly recons and files accurate and timely medical aid, provident fund, PAYE tax
        returns SDL and UIF;
  • Submit monthly EMP201 returns and ensure payments are made;
  • Processes all pay deductions for union members and remits to appropriate union;
  • Maintains accurate wage records for each employee, prepares and
  • distributes annual wage returns;
  • Maintains recons for annual leave, sick leave and compassionate leave monthly, staff
        variances, accurate wage records for each employee, prepares and distributes annual wage
        returns for EMP201 and EMP501;
  • Handles all employee enquiries relating to remuneration; Payroll query resolution as and
        when they occur;
  • Prepare monthly reports on payroll for the Board of Directors by the 7th of each month;
  • Any adhoc department duties.

Required Skills

  • microsoft suite : 1 to 2 years
  • Sage VIP Premiere and/ or People : 1 to 2 years

Candidate Requirements

Education:

  • Grade 12
  • Short courses - relevant to position (Advantageous)

Experience:

  • Experience in relevant position (Advantageous)
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook etc.)
  • Experience on Sage VIP Premiere and People
  • Good understanding of the internet and different media
