Since our humble beginnings back in 1990, change has happened on a holistic level across all levels of cancer care. Things that were once deemed impossible, have become possible and countless lives have been saved through improvements in cancer medication and treatments.
To stay at the forefront of the cancer care industry, we’ve had to adapt at a rapid rate – with the global trend leaning towards a more digital world, managing treatments and patients have shifted along the same trend. Almost every aspect of what GVI Oncology once was, has changed.
While advances in medical technology have changed the way we treat our patients, medically, there are some things that never change – the way we treat them as humans – with compassion, accountability, respect and ethics.
It was with those 4 values in mind that we decided to re-brand GVI Oncology as CancerCare.
Today, CancerCare has nine oncology centres situated in Constantiaberg, Cape Gate, Durbanville, East London, George, Panorama, Port Elizabeth, Rondebosch and Somerset West. We adopt a patient-centric approach in everything we do, and are therefore able to provide patients with holistic cancer care and management. We are proud to have a group of oncologists who are supported by a highly skilled team of radiation therapists (radiographers), radiation laboratory technicians, medical physicists, medical officers, oncology social workers and oncology nurses.
Our multi-disciplinary teams live our company values of with compassion, accountability, respect and ethics towards the numerous patients they treat daily. Our services include specialist consultations, external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy and chemotherapy. We are proud to offer our patients value-added services such as individual or group psycho-social care to them and their families, as well as comprehensive information on all aspects of cancer care.
