Our client in the Retail Industry, requires the services a detail-orientated Planning Manager to manage a team of route planners
Key performance areas:
- Change management
- Spearheading personal and professional growth of their team
- Implement Coaching and Situational leadership techniques
- Developing Master order and delivery cycles
- Monitoring inbound related activities
- Providing information to related departments to assist in labour and transport planning
- Liaising, communicating and assisting with other departmental heads (within the supply chain, home office, supporting departments and retail operations)
- Process analysis and continuous process improvement
- Managing new store openings and store closures from a system and operational capacity
- Project development, management and implementation
- Resolving and providing feedback on branch related queries through delegation
- Operational performance monitoring and management of planning managers
- Resolving and attending to escalated queries (through planning department)
- Strategic decision making
- Managing the daily creation of operational effective and cost effective daily extraction and transport operational plans to service end customer needs.
- Managing and understanding Distribution Centre and Transport operational capacities and cycles
- Operational work planning, priority management and people scheduling
- Managing customer service
- Establishing processes, policies, performance metrics and guidelines for the planning department
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- Matric with a Degree in Logistics / Industrial Engineering / Operational Research
- At least 3 year experience in route scheduling in a FMCG environment or similar
- Must have proven leadership experience
- Knowledge of DC operations
- Excellent computer literacy (Google Suite / Microsoft packages / SAP Retail or similar ERP System)
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (or similar WMS) and TMS (Transport management Systems) experience will be advantageous
- Working knowledge of Routing and Distribution Systems (or related route optimization software)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have own reliable transport
