Duties:
• Physical geography academic programme development and regeneration;
• Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in physical geography;
• Postgraduate supervision of physical geography research;
• Running a productive research programme in physical geography;
• Programme coordinator of the BA development and environment programme;
• Publication of research results in accredited journals and presenting results at conferences;
• Actively participating in all departmental activities and research projects;
• Academic interaction with the community.
Required Skills
- Excellent Communication And Language Skills In English
- Phd In Physical Geography At Time Of Application
- Proven Competence As A Lecturer
Candidate Requirements
Requirements:
• PhD in physical geography at time of application;
• Proven competence as a lecturer;
• At least two peer-reviewed articles as first author in internationally accredited journals on a research topic relevant to the post;
• Demonstrable knowledge of physical processes in South African environments through research outputs;
• Evidence of international and national conference presentations;
• Excellent communication and language skills in English.
Recommendations:
• Proven competence as postgraduate supervisor and administrator;
• Proven physical geography fieldwork and laboratory experience;
• Competency in geographic information systems;
• Potential to secure research funding;
• Evidence of participation in national research cooperation;
• Competencies in general organisational skills.
