We are looking for two experienced and skilled Surveyors to join our team. One of the positions is a fixed-term project-based role for 6 months and will be located in De Aar, Northern Cape. The other position is permanent and will be based in Southern Cape and also Cape Town for different projects. The role of a surveyor is crucial in our civil engineering projects, and both these positions offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to a range of projects and gain valuable experience in a dynamic environment. Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma or Degree in Surveying or a related field.
• 5 years of experience as a Surveyor in civil engineering projects.
• Proficiency in operating surveying equipment and software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Candidate Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
1. Setting Out
· Conduct setting out for roads and earthworks using GPS, total station, and dumpy level.
· Perform level traverses and ensure close tolerances as per survey manual.
· Calculate and place levels based on predetermined calculations.
· Accurately pick up dips and calculate averages and differences according to the survey manual.
· Create profiles for batter boards and conduct tachy surveys.
· Utilize dipstick calculation for layer works.
· Perform setting out for pipelines using laser, theodolite, and frame.
· Develop profiles for boning operations.
· Proficiency in setting out and installing underground services (Sewer mains, Stormwater pipes and Box culverts, water mains and service sleeves)
· Knowledgeable of the various construction tolerances pertaining to the works in accordance with the specifications.
2. Records
· Complete necessary bookwork accurately.
· Transfer information from the field book into sketches and reports.
· Collect as-built information and data.
· Maintain Masterfile records.
3. Quality
· Ensure the quality of bookwork and adherence to specifications (SABS, COLTO, and contract specifications).
· Carry out work as instructed and conduct visual checks on roads and services.
· Verify tie-in to existing roads and services.
· Obtain approvals for dips and submit for review.
4. Health, Safety, and Environment
· Operate in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
· Properly use provided personal protective equipment.
· Enforce the use of personal protective equipment.
· Adhere to site-specific environmental management plans.
5. Quantities
· Take and plot cross-sections accurately
· Provide tachy surveys in digital format for quantification.
· Familiarity with Modelmaker software is preferred.
