A vacancy exists for a Laundry Manager based at Private Hospital Group in Port Elizabeth reporting to the Hospital Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the facility processing 4 tons of laundry seven days a week for 7 of the Groups Facilities.
- Manage the daily operations of the laundry services department.
- Assigns and reviews the work of laundry employees engaged in receiving, washing, ironing, packaging and delivering laundry to various departments or wards.
- Plan and direct laundry operations.
- Train and supervise laundry staff.
- Plans and schedule work.
- Set standards for production and quality of work performed.
- Supervises and evaluates the work of laundry, linen, and sewing room employees
- Effectively recommends personnel actions related to selection, disciplinary procedures, performance, leaves of absence, grievances, work schedules and assignments, and administers personnel and related policies and procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree / Diploma in Business Management (must be a completed certification).
- Background and/or experience in an Engineering or Technical filed will be advantageous
- General management experience in a factory, production or hospital environment of at least 3-5 years.
- Should have knowledge of process management and logistics.
- Proven people management skills.
- Previous Union relations experience would be an advantage.
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn specialized fields, terminology and laundry equipment use.
- Computer proficiency is required
- Drivers licence and own, reliable transport required
