Are you energetic, ambitious, and looking to develop your career? Our Cape Town Marketing department is looking to add an Events Coordinator to their team. The Events Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing various events ranging from small gatherings to large-scale conferences. You’re perfect for this position if you:
- Have a degree in event management, hospitality, marketing, communications, or a related field
- Have at least three years proven experience in event planning and coordination, preferably in a corporate setting
- Have strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Are highly organised with exceptional attention to details and have top-notch administrative skills
- Are a creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas and solutions
- Can work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Are Collaborative - thrive when part of a team
- Are friendly and outgoing with an excellent phone manner and written communication
- Have knowledge of local venues, suppliers, and resources is a plus
Your role and responsibilities:
Among other tasks, your main responsibilities will include:
- Planning, organising, and executing a wide range of physical and virtual events, including but not limited to conferences, seminars, workshops, corporate meetings, social gatherings, and fundraising events
- Developing and managing event budgets, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines and cost-effective planning
- Coordinating all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual equipment, transportation, accommodation, and supplier management
- Collaborating with the marketing team and internal stakeholders to define event objectives, themes, social media campaigns, email invitations, printed material, and agendas to ensure provision of event collateral and that events are adequately advertised
- Handing RSVPs, registrations, and attendee communications, providing excellent customer service throughout the event planning process
- Coordinating the booking of temporary staff, decor and catering as necessary
- Occasionally assisting with setup and teardown and other on-the-ground support and coordination for larger events
- Conducting post-event evaluations and analysis to assess event success, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement
- Staying informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in event planning and management
