My client in the Aluminium Manufacturing industry, is looking for a Support Technician to join their team in the East Rand, Gauteng.
JOB PURPOSE
The core purpose of the role is to complete systems verification, testing, quoting and estimating on operating system.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
· System Administration & Support.
· Technical Support.
· SHEQ Integrated Management System control.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION & SUPPORT
2. Compile cutting list on Fenestration Design Software System.
3. Compile material lists on Fenestration Design Software System.
4. Updating of machinery maintenance checklists and records.
5. Report manufacturing issues, cutting list problems or software/manual related mistakes back to the technical department for rectification with software suppliers or the relevant internal department.
6. Offer first line Fenestration Design Software System support to customers.
i. Assist with Fenestration Design Software System software support to customers.
ii. Answering calls and assisting clients remotely using TeamViewer / Anydesk.
7. Conduct software specific training (Bizman & Logikal) with internal and external stakeholders as required.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
1. Training customers on fabrication, assembly and installation of systems and operation of punch tools.
i. Printing and binding of training materials, ensuring the customers have the correct manuals and literature required when manufacturing our systems.
ii. Traveling to all branches, as per requirements to offer training to clients in remote areas.
iii. Offering training of installation and not only manufacturing of systems, visiting sites to ensure the installation of systems had been done correctly, upon request only.
2. Control all punch tools in the business.
i. Check the working functions of punch tools returned to ensure no damages occurred whilst on customer sites.
ii. Ensure the punch tools go for maintenance, should maintenance be required.
iii. Leasing with service supplier and making arrangements for collection and delivery, also testing that the maintenance had been performed and the tool operates adequately.
iv. Ensure quality checks and punch tool package completeness before sending out to customers.
v. Ensure punch tool agreement form is completed and keep records of all data.
vi. Management of punch tool contracts and tracking of allocations.
3. Provide technical product advice to customers relating to quotation request.
4. Provide accurate technical support to internal- and external stakeholders, including troubleshooting, analysis etc.
i. Visiting site to problem solve issues, leaks, or malfunctions of systems
5. Operating a company vehicle to deliver or collect punch tools or hardware items to clients or when enroute to customer training sessions.
i. Comply with all traffic laws and follow safe driving practices while operating a company vehicle.
6. Ensure the Training Centre maintains a clean, tidy, and sanitary appearance always.
i. Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping floors, dusting surfaces, removing debris.
7. Joining of Bi-coloured Aliplast profiles on the Isomat machine.
i. Following instructions, drawings, and acute tolerances to avoid damage to the profiles and ensuring the desirable results.
8. Manufacturing new R&D developments and ensuring the functionality of new developments.
i. Comprehending the design of the system, enabling the possibility of future training to customers on the new systems. Grade 12 with at least 1 or 2 additional short course certifications.
SHEQ INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CONTROL
1. Ensure adherence to the OHS Act.
i. Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves of other persons.
ii. Co-operate with the employer to enable prescribed duties or requirements to be complied with.
iii. Carry out any lawful order given and obey the health and safety rules and procedures.
iv. Report any unsafe or unhealthy situation to the employer.
v. Report any incident to the employer.
vi. Comply with health and safety processes.
2. Participate in any Integrated Management System activities as required.
3. Identify and report opportunities for improvement, Non-Conformances, and Incidents in area of responsibility.
4. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
5. Always maintain a high level of customer service levels standards.
6. Management of training centre safety inductions for visitors.
7. Presentation of toolbox talks relevant to the training centre and employees making use of the facilities.
i. Logging the attendance register and evidence of the toolbox talk materials discussed.
8. Complete Health and Safety inspections for the Training Centre, as required.
Candidate Requirements
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Grade 12 with at least 1 or 2 additional short course certifications.
2. Valid Drivers’ license.
EXPERIENCE
1. 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
1. Computer literacy with Proficiency in MS Office at an intermediate level.
2. Knowledge of AAAMSA and SAGGA regulations.
3. Proficient in Fenestration Design Software and Estimating Systems.
4. In-depth product knowledge, including their features, functionalities, and potential troubleshooting points.
5. Awareness and understanding of relevant ISO Standard requirements.
6. Knowledge of European Aluminium Systems (non-negotiable)
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Technically proficient with the ability to read and understand architectural drawing and solve complex technical queries.
2. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, to identify customer challenges and offer suitable solutions.
3. Key Accounts Management, with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with clients.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with clients, understand their needs, and articulate the value proposition of the product being trained.
