Job Description:


Seeking a Production Superintendent to join the team of a well known mining company based in Mpumalanga in the Barberton / Nelspruit area. *Note: Please do not apply if you do not qualify the requirements.

THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE ARE ESSENTIAL:

  • Diploma / Degree in Metallurgy and at least 5 years operational experience in metallurgical on Base Metals / PGM Processing / Concentrator Plant of similar techinical complexity. Up to 2 years Management / Supervisory experience in Chrome processing plant

OR

  • More than 15 years metallurgical operational experience on Base Metals / PGM Processing / Concentrator Plant of similar techinical complexity. Up to 10 years Management / Supervisory experience in Chrome processing plant / Base Metals / PGM Processing / Concentrator Plant Operations.

THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE WOULD BE ADVANTAGEOUS OR OPTIONAL:

  • Management Development Program
  • Business Improvement Projects

ALTHOUGH NOT LIMITED TO, THE INCUMBENT'S MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Production management: Management of the production process. Ensuring Short Interval Control and Active Supervision. Ensure timely delivery of products. Effective monthly production plans for the section that are aligned with the long term plans and consistently achieved.
  • Production optimization and CI: Propose new ideas for improvement in production or related processes. Initiate projects to implement improvements. Research best practices and continuously review potential for improvement.
  • Reporting: Obtain reports from Metallurgist and Shift Supervisor to integrate and compile the final production report. Analyse information and identify trends. Present information monthly to the Manager, to enable reporting and planning for next month.
  • Cost control: Manage budget. Negotiate best possible rate and conditions with suppliers. Cost effective equipment maintenance and control by ensuring replacement cost is kept close to end of life.
  • SHREQ: Ensure employees are operationally competent in respect of legal requirements and SOP's. Ensure waste management policy is followed (separation of waste). Ensure tailings disposal is executed in accordance with safety standards or policies. Water utilization; ensure compliance with EMPR. Ensure employees are not exposed to hazardous materials (e.g. asbestos dust). Enhance safety awareness throughout working area. Ensure working area and equipment is clean and safe at all times and in good working condition. Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures. PPE is worn during shift and safety rules and regulations adhered to. Identification and writing of SOP's for critical tasks in work areas.
  • People management: Manage own team's performance. Recruit and select employees. Manage employee relations. Train and develop employees.
