Job Description:
Assist the Chief Marine Enginer Officer with the operation and
maitenance of plant, equipment and machinery including operational
watch-keeping duties, performance of routine and unplanned
maintenance in order to ensure a safe and efficient service to
clients and to safeguard Company assets
Be able to work on a moing craft
No fear of heights or confined areas
Physically fit
Comply with eyesight regulations as required by SAMSA
Certificate of competancy as Motorman Grade 1 issued in terms of
Merchant Shipping Act
SAMSA certificate of competancy in First-Aid, Fire Fighting,
PSSR and Survival at Sea
30 months time served on harbour craft
1-3 years experience
SHE Intergrated Management System
ISO Quality Management System
Life-saving equipment / appliances
Safety techniques / equipment
Record-keeping
Emergency and evacuation procedures
Watch-keeping procedures
Ability to solve practical technical problems
Capable of working with specialised equipment and tools,
including power tools
Ability to read, understand and interpret tempratures and
pressure readings
Ensure that the plant and machinery is functioning optimally and
in accordance with precribed measures and standards
Repairs and maintenance to plant and equipment to ensure all
equipment functions optimally and to reduce unplanned breakdowns to
a minimum, ensuring maximum availability to meet client demands
Maintain working environment in a clean and tidy condition in
order to ensure a safe and efficient working environment thereby
contributing to safe working and high levels of productivity
