Senior Statistician (Ref 57/2012)
Directorate: Statistics and Economic Analysis
Salary: R 221 058 per annum
Centre: Pretoria
Requirements:
- Applicants must be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree with
Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics and/or Economics/Agricultural
Economics as a major subject(s) (you are required to furnish a
credit certifi cate and/or statement of results).
- Experience in conducting of surveys and forecasting procedures
as well as statistical methodologies.
- Good communication (verbal and written) skills - both English
and Afrikaans.
- A valid driver’s licence and the ability to drive.
Duties:
- The incumbent will be responsible for the collection,
processing, verification and interpretation of data for the
calculation of area planted to and production of fi eld crops.
- Evaluate and implement statistically sound methodologies based
on scientific principles and professional ethics.
- Suggest ways to improve data and data systems. Perform
secretarial duties to the Crop Estimates Committee (agenda,
minutes, submissions, presentations, etc.).
- Maintain and expand stakeholder networks through meetings,
workshops, farmers’ days, etc.
- Produce fluent and graphically illustrated reports.
