Deputy Director: Commercial Forestry (Ref 11/2012)
Directorate: Commercial Forestry
Salary: R 434 505 per annum (All inclusive package)
Centre: Pretoria
Requirements:
- Applicants must be in possession of a National diploma/degree
in Forestry or Natural Sciences with a Forest Finance/Economics
Certifi cate.
- Knowledge of and experience in; the Forestry sector, forest
certification, SADC Protocol on Forestry, IPAP2 objectives and
implementation, financial management and related policies and
procedures.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills as well as
report writing and research skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- A valid driver’s licence.
Duties:
- The incumbent will be responsible to develop, review and
implement the growth strategy (promote and support growth
activities for commercial forestry; provide key information and
knowledge on forestry related issues; and advise Management on
forestry related issues).
- Monitor forestry transfer for risks and mitigation (identify
risk areas and develop interventions; and develop an exit strategy
for all lease agreements and impacts on the sector).
- Facilitate the establishment of liaison forums and manage
stakeholder engagement with the sector (establish and manage the
liaison structure; deal with all queries relating to forestry
issues; and monitor the direction of the Forestry industry).
- Participate in regional and international forums (represent the
Department in local and international conferences).
- Manage the resources of the Sub-Directorate (conduct fi nancial
planning and ensure the development and management of
resources).
Note: Candidates will be subjected to a skills/knowledge test in
MS Offi ce software.
