Job Description:



Traffic Officers: Grade II & III (5 Positions)
Total Cost to Employer: • R159 330.00 per annum (Gr III)
• R202 121.00 per annum (Gr II)
Basic salary: • R108 932.00 – R121 653.00 per annum (Gr III)
• R124 177.00 – R141 065.00 per annum (Gr II) (Ref. CSS/02/12)


Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Traffic Officer’s Diploma
  • Valid Code A and EC driver’s licences
  • Valid registration with the Department of Transport as a Traffic Officer
  • No criminal record

• Good health • Examiner of Vehicles and Drivers Licences Diploma will be an added advantage
• At least ITO1 (Grade II) • Preference will be given to female applicants.


Key performance areas:

  • Carry out law enforcement and patrol duties
  • Perform point duty (traffic control) at schools or where required
  • Handle escorts (abnormal vehicles), funerals, etc
  • Maintain traffic control during special events
  • Test applicants for learner’s or driver’s licences
  • Open and close public amenities – Selati Ablution Block • Investigate complaints (dogs, vehicles, etc)
  • Act as Chauffeur for the Mayor
  • Attend court for traffic-related cases
  • Serve summonses and execute warrants for arrest
  • Hold roadblocks
  • Carry out administrative duties (reports, duty sheets, registers)
  • Test vehicles for roadworthiness and/or certificates of fitness
  • Perform any other related duties that may be commissioned from time to time by an authorised person.
