Technician: Mechanical
Total Cost to Employer: R452 420.00 per annum
Basic salary: R224 946.00 – R230 603.00 per annum (Level 4) (Ref.
TS/02/12)
Requirements:
- National Diploma qualification as a Technician
- Project management skills
- Computer literacy
- Bilingualism
- Five years’ practical, hands-on experience in the mechanical
and advanced engineering fields.
Key performance areas:
- Plan and make provision for vehicle fleet equipment and plant
infrastructure to ensure the better operation of plant and
vehicles, as well as budget commitments
- Perform planning, construction and maintenance activities to
ensure the better operation of the vehicle fleet, water and sewer
plants systems
- Manage, monitor and control external capital projects to ensure
the quality of work and budget commitments
- Perform client and public-related services to ensure effective
and efficient service delivery to the public
- Monitor adherence to legal requirements on all new projects to
ensure compliance with prescribed procedures
Be responsible for the following safety-related duties and
responsibilities in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety
Act, 85 of 1993, to ensure the implementation and maintenance of
proper safety procedures: * Provide all supervisors with relevant
information and instructions regarding health and safety * Ensure
that the Health and Safety Policy is prominently displayed and
adhered to by all employees * Ensure the supply and maintenance of
all occupational health and safety equipment * Ensure safety and
the absence of health risk by eliminating or minimising any
potential hazard * Ensure that no employee is permitted to work
under conditions where precautionary measures have not been taken *
Ensure that employees are fully informed regarding the scope of
their own authority * Ensure that all employees under his/her
control adhere to the requirements of the Act * Ensure the
rectification of any deviations from the required standards *
Follow up on all recommendations and ensure the implementation
thereof where possible * Ensure that all inquiries and other
incidents are reported and investigated * Notify the Health and
Safety representatives and the Safety Committee of all incidents *
Follow the procedural requirements of Section 24 of the Act in the
case of serious injuries.
