Job Description:
Assistant Accountant: Cashbook
Total Cost to Employer: R268 177.00 per annum
Basic salary: R175 502.00 – R193 813.00 per annum (Level 6) (Ref.
BTO/04/12)
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- NQF Level 5 qualification in Commerce/Municipal Finance or
Accounting 111
- Minimum of two to three years’ working experience in bank
reconciliation and cashbook management
- Thorough knowledge of cashbook procedures
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite and other applications)
- Knowledge of legislation such as the MFMA and all related
Treasury Regulations in relation to cashbook management.
Key performance areas:
- Download and upload bank statements on a daily basis
- Reconcile and report on transactions on municipal bank
accounts
- Capture cashbook transactions off the bank on a daily
basis
- Allocate payments such as debit orders
- Allocate charges
- Respond to debtors’ and creditors’ queries
- Check and report on the duplication of payments and
receipts
- Reconcile and report on all outstanding payments and deposits
in the bank reconciliation
- Reconcile the cashbook with bank statements
- Prepare the investment reconciliation on a monthly basis to
check the interest capitalised and also to determine all the
project investments that have been funded
- Print and keep files in a safe place for audit and
referral
- Keep and file documents where necessary.
