Job Description:


 

Assistant Accountant: Cashbook
Total Cost to Employer: R268 177.00 per annum
Basic salary: R175 502.00 – R193 813.00 per annum (Level 6) (Ref. BTO/04/12)


Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • NQF Level 5 qualification in Commerce/Municipal Finance or Accounting 111
  • Minimum of two to three years’ working experience in bank reconciliation and cashbook management
  • Thorough knowledge of cashbook procedures
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite and other applications)
  • Knowledge of legislation such as the MFMA and all related Treasury Regulations in relation to cashbook management.

Key performance areas:

  • Download and upload bank statements on a daily basis
  • Reconcile and report on transactions on municipal bank accounts
  • Capture cashbook transactions off the bank on a daily basis
  • Allocate payments such as debit orders
  • Allocate charges
  • Respond to debtors’ and creditors’ queries
  • Check and report on the duplication of payments and receipts
  • Reconcile and report on all outstanding payments and deposits in the bank reconciliation
  • Reconcile the cashbook with bank statements
  • Prepare the investment reconciliation on a monthly basis to check the interest capitalised and also to determine all the project investments that have been funded
  • Print and keep files in a safe place for audit and referral
  • Keep and file documents where necessary.
