Job Description:


 

Assistant Accountant: Indigents Management
Total Cost to Employer: R268 177.00 per annum
Basic salary: R175 502.00 – R193 813.00 per annum (Level 6) (Ref. BTO/03/12)


Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/National Diploma in Municipal Finance and Administration/Business Administration/Accounting or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of two to three years’ working experience in indigents management and reporting
  • Thorough knowledge of reporting and helpdesk procedures
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite and other applications)
  • Knowledge of legislation such as the MFA, MSA, NCA and all related Treasury Regulations relating to debtors management
  • Customer service orientation and reporting skills.

Key performance areas:

  • Render an effective indigents management and credit control service
  • Render indigents management on the financial management system
  • Process and prepare monthly reporting
  • Administer the compilation and updating of the Indigents Register
  • Process monthly accounts reconciliations
  • Prepare and update revenue working papers
  • Ensure the implementation of Management and Council decisions/resolutions/internal controls/policies/by-laws and Local Government legislation
  • Allocate and supervise staff directly reporting to you
  • Render spot checks on suspected accounts
  • Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual procedures are conducted.
