CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (5-year fixed-term contract)
Salary Negotiable (Ref. RTMC/CEO/ 2012)
The Shareholders Committee of the Road Traffic Management
Corporation (RTMC) needs to appoint a dynamic individual as Chief
Executive Officer of the Corporation who will control and manage
the day-to-day affairs of the Corporation, on the basis of sound
business management principles under the overall direction and
supervision of the Shareholders Committee. The Corporation has been
established as a cooperative governmental statutory forum, headed
by the Shareholders Committee to enhance the overall quality of
road traffic management and service provision.
The successful candidate will sign a 5-year performance contract
with the Shareholders Committee. The Chief Executive Officer’s
performance will be regularly evaluated on the basis of compliance
with predetermined performance indicators in terms of the
performance contract.
Duties: The Chief Executive Officer will report directly to the
Shareholders Committee with the implementation of strategic focus
areas, whilst ensuring service delivery and will be responsible
for:
- Management and ensuring of the effective operational
functioning of the Corporation by ensuring the development and
adherence to the Business and Financial Plans as approved by the
Shareholders Committee
- Financial management of the Corporation
- Provision of strategic and operational leadership to the
executive management team.
The suitable candidate must have:
- The ability to respond to and perform under the overall
direction of the Shareholders Committee
- Sound knowledge of the functioning of national, provincial and
local spheres of Government, particularly with regard to road
traffic matters as well as the ability to coordinate and harmonise
Government activities
- Strong skills and ability to participate in, and contribute to,
as well as provide leadership under the direction of the
Shareholders Committee of the Corporation in:
- Road traffic policy development, management and implementation
processes particularly in relation to the Road Safety Strategy
- Translation of road traffic policy into implementation
strategies and actions through strategy as well as operational
planning
- Organisational change management and transformation
- Project management
- Capacity building.
Minimum qualification and attributes include:
- Relevant tertiary qualification, coupled with at least 5 years’
experience at Executive Management level
- Experience in strategy formulation and implementation
processes
- Exceptional negotiation skills and business acumen
- Results oriented and motivational skills
- Demonstrate leadership skills with high energy, passion and
drive in order to succeed
- Sound financial competence.
