Job Description:
The Department wishes to advertise the following posts, based in
Pretoria:
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: MONITORING & EVALUATION (Ref. 11431/02)
Salary: R221,058 per annum
REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must be in possession of a recognised Bachelor
degree or an equivalent qualification with three (3) years relevant
experience, supplemented by substantial knowledge of human rights,
gender and equity issues in education
- A post-graduate degree in Human Rights, Social Justice, Gender
Studies and/or Development Studies will be an advantage
- Strong knowledge of and experience in research and monitoring
and evaluation is critical
- Experience in working in the human rights, gender and/or
development fields, as well as knowledge of and insight into local
and global debates on equity, social cohesion and nation building
is important
- Strong communication (verbal and written) skills are
essential.
DUTIES:
- Provide support to the programmes related to social cohesion
and equity within the education system
- Assist in monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of
national and provincial programmes of the Directorate
- Render professional support where necessary, including drafting
of documentation
- Conduct research and provide advice on the implications of
human rights and gender equity in all Departmental policies,
projects and programmes
- Assist in speech-writing and putting together briefings where
requested
- Monitor the implementation of strategies for the eradication of
gender-based violence in public schools
- Monitor and evaluate strategies for dealing with learner
pregnancy in public schools
- Perform any other tasks as required by the Director: Social
Cohesion and Equity in Education.
NOTE: Short-listed candidates will be required to undergo a
competency assessment.
