Job Description:
The Civilian Secretariat for Police is seeking to appoint
suitable candidates to fill the following positions at a national
level, based at Pretoria
PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO THE CHIEF DIRECTOR: POLICY, RESEARCH &
STRATEGY
Salary: R149 742 per annum (Level 7) (Ref. PR/02/12)
Requirements:
- Appropriate Bachelor’s degree/National Diploma in Office
Administration or Public Relations coupled with relevant experience
PLUS the following
Key competencies:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, prescripts and
financial administration
- Budget monitoring skills
- Planning and organisational skills
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Team player
- Creativity
- Self-starter and reliable
- Innovative and creative
- Valid driver’s licence.
The successful candidate must be willing to undergo security
clearance.
Duties:
- Provide administrative support to the Sub-directorate by
ensuring effective time management through planning and managing
the diary of the Chief Director
- Advise and manage the diaries of the Manager
- Manage the correspondence of the Manager
- Record minutes/decisions and communicate them to the relevant
role players, and follow up on progress records
- Prepare briefing notes for the Manager as required
- Coordinate logistical arrangements for meetings
- Understand Public Services and Departmental prescripts/policies
and other documents, and ensure the effective and efficient
application of these policies
- Keep abreast of the procedures and processes that apply in the
office of the managers
- Support the managers with the administration of the budget
- Collect and coordinate all documents relating to the
managers.
General: • Applications must be submitted on the prescribed
application form Z83 of the Public Service Act form only, (ie
application for employment form), obtainable from any Public
Service Department or any Public Service and Administration website
or recruitment office within Secretariat for Police • All
applications must be accompanied by a comprehensive Curriculum
Vitae, certified copies of all education qualifications and
supporting documents, such as Identity Document, driver’s licence,
etc • Persons who have retired from the Public Service by taking
packages, early retirement or for medical reasons, as well as
persons with previous convictions, are excluded • Applications must

e-mailed applications will not be considered • All instructions on
the application must be adhered to. Failure to comply with this
requirement will result in the candidate being disqualified • If a
candidate is short-listed, it can be expected from him/her to
undergo a personal interview • Short-listed candidates will be
subjected to a security clearance up to the level of Secretary
