Job Description:
The Civilian Secretariat for Police is seeking to appoint
suitable candidates to fill the following positions at a national
level, based at Pretoria.
POLICY & RESEARCH UNIT
DIRECTOR: POLICY ANALYSIS
Salary: R685 200 per annum (Level 13) (Ref. PR/01/12)
The candidate will be required to enter into a Permanent Employment
Contract, as well as complete
a Performance Agreement with the Manager of the of the post. The
all-inclusive package consists of a
70% basic salary and a 30% flexible portion that may be structured
in terms of the applicable rules
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Research Methodology, Criminology, Law or
Sociology
- More than 5 years’ appropriate research, policy development and
management experience
- Good understanding of policing practice and development
- Ability to establish a network in the policing or security
establishment
- People management skills
- Knowledge of the governmental procurement process and the
PFMA
- Broad knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice
system and relevant policy environment
- A least 5 years’ management and project management
experience
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- High level of proficiency in relevant computer
applications
- Valid driver’s licence.
Duties:
- Conduct research, analyse findings, provide recommendations and
report on policing policy and practice
- Ensure that policing strategy and operations are aligned to
policy in liaison with the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit
- Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation and Partnership
Unit to enhance the implementation of policies, practices and
procedures
- Develop policy and discussion papers on aspects of policing as
requested by the Chief Director and the Secretary for Police
- Develop civil society partnership and engagement for the policy
development processes
- Report to Chief Director on policy development process
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief
Director.
