Job Description:
ENVIRONMENT:
A Cape Town based ISP seeks a Senior Network Engineer join our
tech team. They will participate and be responsible for
implementation and support of development systems, production
systems at data centres, including all network- and systems-related
infrastructure components.
DUTIES:
1. Installs, maintains, and supports Server based Operating
Systems.
2. Installs and maintains all software and hardware for network
servers and clients.
3. Monitors and evaluates various network operating systems and
applications.
4. Analyses, troubleshoots, and resolves LAN and WAN hardware
and software problems.
5. Establishes user security for access to LAN/WAN.
6. Recommends and implements LAN/WAN policies and standards, and
ensures adherence to security procedures.
7. Trains users on LAN/WAN operations and procedures.
8. Maintains contact with vendors or outside organizations in
the maintenance, service, and/or purchase of LAN/WAN hardware,
software, and services.
9. Prepares and maintains technical systems documentation.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. HP ProCurve or Cisco experience essential.
2. Tertiary education.
3. 3 years' experience in the maintenance of various server
systems including a minimum of two years experience in network
systems (LAN/WAN) on a large network.
