Job Description:
A dynamic and growing client centric IT company that are a tech
focused and open source shop requires a Mid-Level Linux System
Administrator.
Requirements
Expert knowledge on Ubuntu, Linux, Windows Server, Exchange
(2003/2007/2010).
FreeBSD experience would be beneficial
VMWare administration + high availability experience
Excellent understanding of networking and internet protocols
(SMTP, DNS, TCP/IP, SSH)
Must have experience working with Exim and SMPT diagnostics,
Experience with installation, configuration and maintenance of
open source solutions like Apache, Tomcat, MySQL, Postgresql ,
Exim, heartbeat resiliency, BIND, OpenVPN, Cacti
Well versed in creating shell and Perl scripts
3 years minimum relevant experience in a similar role.
Key Areas
Product installations, training, configuration and upgrades.
Hardware and software troubleshooting and fault finding
Server hardware including sizing and scalability as well as
deployment best practices, server management suites, driver
compatibility checks etc.
Monitoring performance tuning and capacity management
purposes.
Centralized backup and restore activities.
Definition of processes and procedures to carry on regular
server and system health checks.
Liaising with Product Development personnel, for product
enhancements and trouble shooting.
Reference number for this position is gz24432 which is a
permanent position based in Fourways offering a R300k per annum
cost to company negotiable on experience.
