Job Description:
An exciting opportunity exists for a General Manager to run a
large scale open pit manganese mine in the Northern Cape [ Kalahari
district ]
Job Purpose
Lead the Operation in the pursuit of zero harm and the highest
return on investment. This is done through effective utilisation of
all resources, especially employees, equipment and systems,
ensuring full compliance to all applicable legislation and company
policies.
Key Performance Areas include
•
Lead the strategic planning of the mine in a manner that will
result in a sustainable positive
income stream from the assets over the longest possible life of
mine
•
Lead operating excellence initiatives to continuously improve
efficiencies and effectiveness
at
the operation
•
Lead the Mine Management team and manage the mine within the
framework provided by
the
Company standards.
•
Actively participate in strategic and policy formulation of the
greater company.
•
Set and meet the financial and production targets set for the mine
in a sustainable manner
in both
short and long term
•
Advise on mine planning and mining methods
•
Lead the operation in the pursuit of no injuries or ill health
effects
•
Provide resources to create a Harm free environment
•
Manage the operation in line with HSEC & Q standards
•
Manage the operation to ISO and OSHAS standards
•
Create and drive the Health and Safety targets and objectives of
the mine

Tertiary Qualification and Post Graduate Business
Qualification
NQF Level 7
8 - 10 years Senior management experience
