Senior Contract Manager – Civil Engineering – Construction -JHB

My construction client in Port Elizabeth is looking for a Senior Contracts Manager. The successful applicant must be dedicated, focused, energetic and reliable. Must have advanced experience to be able to coordinate various construction activities. Must also be able to manage staff on various levels

Job Duties

  • Managing all contractual related matters from various projects and enforcing the Contract Documents as well as the General Conditions of Contract (GCC)
  • Generating construction programs and site specific method statements
  • Reviewing projects profitability weekly in terms of expenditure of expenditure for plant utilisation, labour employment and materials purchased, then comparing these expenses to the weekly income and the construction program.
  • Attend site and technical meetings with Clients and the engineers to ensure that projects are complaint in terms of timeline, quality control, environmental matters and H&S
  • Manage daily operations with regards to resourcing projects with the required supervision, skilled workers, materials and pant requirements
  • Mentoring and directing of junior site agent in terms of contractual documentation, project finance, construction programs, timelines and required resources.
  • Regular interaction with suppliers to ensure relationships are maintained, whilst negotiating the best prices.
  • Providing independent advice and guidance to fellow senior managers.
  • Interaction with SMME/EME/BOC companies, task teams and ward committees. Ensuring  that the Contract document is followed in terms of their appointments, work allocations and mentoring.
  • Represent the company at the Union meeting to ensure the satisfaction of the workforce but also that of the employer.
  • Assist with HR Related matters. Interviewing employees and employment of staff. The implementation of disciplinary and corrective procedures in relation to those individuals who do not adhere to company protocol. Retrenchment of staff.
  • Manage the implementation of the Capital Investment program for the client.
  • Manage investment delivery by ensuring expenditure and appointment of contractor’s ad consultants.
  • Develop and implement strategies and business plans
  • Develop appropriate procedures to provide sustainable Investment Delivery services
  • Monitor the consistent implementation of policies
  • Develop and implement control systems and processes necessary for the Investment Delivery’s success
  • Compile reports and statistics  
  • Manage contractors and project implementation
  • Manage procurement process. Manage Health and Safety 
Candidate Requirements

 

Requirements

B Tech/ BSc degree in Civil Engineering.

Registered Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech (Eng.) •

10 years ‘working experience in civil engineering of which 5 years must be at a senior management level

Knowledge of procurement processes in the public sector

Valid driver’s license (Code B).
